be yourself and use rave correctly ᕙ( ᗒᗣᗕ )ᕗ

the term 'rave' has been thrown around a lot lately for any and every type of show that features djs... its become a buzz word... however what raves started out as is completely surrounded around diy. genrators, found space, several people putting on something together on their time for no money just for the love of curation. shows that are done for free for the sake of community.

raves arent the cities top 5 djs playing something at a venue, showing up 2 hours after the set up and selling the tickets for 20+ dollars. thats what a club is. authenticity is disapearing and thats fine, there's nothing we can do about it but care and try our hardest to be meaningful with what we do. regardless i still hope to differentiate between something authentic and meaningful vs a money grabbing clout ploy... i feel in this city we have a lot that we need to differentiate. a city as culturally rich and unique as new orleans, although the many beautiful things that are born from it, it also immensely breeds false identities. but maybe thats everywhere.. been thinking about this lately but growing up we saw all these 'be yourself' campaigns.. i dont see those anymore, not even on kids channels.
