My story with throwing the raves. ── .✦ the hotline number (created by my brother) was used previously but put to rest for about 2 years, the raves (some of you may know) took a pause too. in may i thought i was moving (lol) and wanted to throw a going away rave. at lindy boggs. for those who dont know, lindy boggs (an abandoned hospital in mid city new orleans) has a long history of secret shows being thrown there in the past, but nothing had happened there for a few years. (an incredibly iconic spot and im so stoked i got to do my first rave and first dj set ever there.) at the time i had been putting on hardware electronic/noise shows at a hostel for two years and had taken a break due to a falling out with the person i was throwing the shows with (iykyk). i loved curating shows and i missed it. luckily i have an incredible (tenured dj) brother who wanted to start the raves back up and with me!!... after the first one at lindy boggs in may went so well (even though the genrator broke and we edged the crowd for about an hour lol) i came back to continue doing them (and plenty of other reasons lol) i did dj sets with my brother to promote and we gained a bigger community. since starting the raves back up we've gained over 500 new hotline subscribers. the noise shows i did were always free and i wanted the raves to be free as well. i think that's the whole point of a rave, a free safe space to dance and meet people who like the same shit you do. and i felt that was lacking here in new orleans. everything costs something and every venue is problematic. and if you're from here you know.. theres alot of inner-communtiy hatred in this city as well. i just wanted somewhere where people didn't feel the need to be someone or be seen as someone... somewhere that's dark and alive. where you're not looking over at the table next to you at b*drips or p**rboys to find out whos around you so you can puff your chest out. i think at our raves, the space is so anonymous feeling, everyone there is just there to dance and no one cares who's around them. theres young kids coming and they feel safe. theres old heads coming and they're excited about something fresh. i wanted to throw something that a 13 year old me would've wanted to go to. (im trying to curate a very specific 2009 vibe and i think I've acheived it lol) ultimately im so happy to provide a space like this for people who are interested in it, and im happy i get to do it with my brother. anyway, thx for reading and there's so much more to come on here. more videos from past raves. and on here there's a chatroom for every rave-goer to come on, ask questions and just talk to each other anonymously. just click the menu button to get to it. ◝(ᵔᵕᵔ)◜ thanks guys and feel free to message me personally in the message box at the bottom right. *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚
